Argumentation

Develops mostly effective and logical arguments supported by relevant source material

Development of Ideas:
Sufficiently develops main ideas with mostly clear, relevant supporting evidence

Structuring Arguments:
Uses persuasive language functions, mostly effectively, to persuade and evaluate ideas


Use of Sources

Generally good synthesis and successful paraphrasing of sources; some appropriate use of different voices

Voice Usage: 

Uses own voice that mostly combines well with source voices; attribution is mostly clear and accurate; uses basic APA citation forms accurately; may include multi-source citations as needed

Source Synthesis:

 Synthesises relevant source ideas sufficiently from all input sources to support their argument; paraphrases most source ideas successfully


Connection of Ideas

Generally displays good connectivity; most structural and cohesive features are used effectively

Structural Features:

Uses organised and logical connection of themes with paragraphing and topic sentences, making the flow and cohesion of the response mostly clear

Cohesive Features

Uses a range of linking words (e.g. cause-effect, contrast) between sentences and within paragraphs to make clear transitions between ideas, with some inaccuracy


Vocabulary

Uses a good range of vocabulary with mostly accurate collocations; mostly suitable hedging

Vocabulary Range:

Uses a good range of vocabulary that helps convey the message

Vocabulary Accuracy: 

Displays good accuracy, with some minor errors that do not impede comprehension; mostly uses collocation well; appropriate formality

Hedging Language: 

Appropriately uses hedging language most of the time


Grammar

Uses a good range of grammatical structures with minor errors, meaning is mostly clear

Grammar Range: 

Uses a good range of grammar structures with some complex sentences and mostly suitable nominalisation

Grammar Accuracy: 

Generally uses grammar correctly with minimal impact on understanding

Word Form: Uses mostly accurate word forms with minor errors that do not hinder the reader
