Noun phrases

 The components of expanded noun phrases can include:

  • Determiners: Words that indicate which noun the speaker is referring to or the quantity of a noun. Articles (the, a), possessives (my, your), demonstratives (this, those), Quantifiers (some, many, few), Numbers.  
  • Adjectives: Words that describe the noun (e.g. strong, large, common).  
  • Prepositional phrases: Phrases that start with a preposition (e.g. at the station).  
  • Relative clauses: Clauses that provide more information about the noun (e.g. the book that has a red cover).

Note: We will be exploring relative clauses in later weeks
